Emma Harner

I’ve been listening to a lot of Emma Harner’s music lately. Her guitar playing is astonishing to me as someone who has learned enough guitar to play simple chords in order to write my own ballads. Emma’s playing is intricate and her melodies are equally complex and full of range in both tone and feeling. When I stumbled upon a short video of her playing her song Lifetimes it stopped my scroll and I let it just keep looping again and again and again. I find her live performances particularly lovely and so when she released the live recording of the Taking My Side EP I was especially excited. It’s been living in my head rent free since then, so I thought I’d create an illustration of Emma inspired by that original video and share the album with you here. Enjoy!
